In order to fulfil your obligation under current Fire Safety Law it is a legal requirement that you have a documented Fire Risk Assessment if there are five or more employees at your premises.
The “Assess” component of Fire Safety Compliance System includes a professional Fire Risk Assessment service that is designated to support your compliance in this area.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO) requires that a Fire Risk Assessment is conducted initially and reviewed on an on-going basis to ensure that appropriate and adequate fire precautions are in place.
A Fire Risk Assessment is defined as ‘an organised and methodical look at a premises, the activities carried on there and the likelihood that a fire could start and cause harm to those in and around the premises’.
In order to assist responsible person(s), the Government has produced a series of downloadable guides, each typically 150 pages thick and applying to different premises categories. The responsible person(s) should read and imbibe the appropriate guide and produce a Fire Risk Assessment specific to the building(s) for which they are responsible.
Current Fire Safety Law could be likened to the mandatory requirement for Forklift operators to be licensed. In the event that there is an accident involving a Forklift, if the employer cannot demonstrate competence e.g. valid training certificate then it is inevitable that they will face prosecution in a court of law. Using this analogy, a properly conducted Fire Risk Assessment combined with adequate fire precautions is essential evidence to avoid the possibility of prosecution under the RRO.
Fixfire® listened to feedback from clients across different sectors and quickly learned that Fire Risk Assessment was a significant burden demanding their time. Fixfire® offers a professional Fire Risk Assessment Service.
Following a detailed site assessment, the Fire Risk Assessment is compiled and presented in a spiral bound document and also in electronic pdf format. The assessment is split into sections and includes an ‘Action Plan’ which is a summarised and prioritised chart detailing the actions required to bring the site in line with current regulations and guidelines and reduce fire risk levels.
The Fire Risk Assessment service offered by Fixfire® is conducted by Compliance Consultants with a thorough understanding of ‘Fire Prevention’ and the requirements of the RRO.
